Over the past day, 302 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 36 people were killed and 349 injured. 28 of the dead were passengers and drivers. This was reported to Izvestia on September 5 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
In the city of Novorzhev, Pskov region, a 37-year-old forklift truck driver did not provide an advantage in traffic when leaving the adjacent territory and collided with a passenger car. The 31-year—old driver of the car and his passenger were injured in the accident. They were injured and sent for outpatient treatment after receiving medical attention.
17 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which there were no fatalities, however, 20 road users, including one child, required medical assistance. Nine bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by their drivers.
As a result of 78 accidents, 23 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 55 outside their area of operation, eight pedestrians were killed, and 71 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 18 child pedestrians, 16 of whom were injured when crossing the roadway outside the designated areas.
44 accidents involving minors were registered, in which 49 young road users were injured, including 16 passengers, two cyclists and seven motor transport drivers. One child passenger was killed.
So, in one of the rural settlements of the Penza region, a 44-year-old drunk car driver, who had previously been deprived of his license for driving under the influence and had just completed a long course of treatment at a drug treatment clinic the day before, collided with three cars while passing a regulated intersection at a traffic light forbidding. As a result of the accident, a 34-year-old driver and two passengers were killed in one of them, including an eight-year-old second-grader son, who was in the back seat of his car in a child restraint, wearing a seat belt.
On the eve of the weekend and possible trips out of town and long-distance trips, the State Traffic Inspectorate urged motorists not to overestimate their strength and carefully monitor their well-being on the road. Even the most minor signs of impending fatigue or ill health should not be neglected. Children must be transported in strict accordance with all applicable safety regulations.
The State Traffic Inspectorate reminded parents of the need to be more attentive to their children of preschool and primary school age. It is important to control their leisure time, not to let them walk alone without supervision, and to use retroreflective elements on their clothes to improve the visibility of young pedestrians and cyclists in the evening.
"Have an explanatory conversation with your children about the rules of safe travel on personal mobility aids, bicycles and scooters, paying special attention to the inadmissibility of minors under the age of 14 traveling on public roads, as well as the need to dismount when crossing the roadway at a pedestrian crossing," said the Deputy head of the Department of Road Safety Propaganda and prevention of children's road traffic injuries GUOBDD of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Police Colonel Anton Belan.
