Chekunkov noted that such initiatives will only gain momentum, as the region's infrastructure is actively developing. He also said that there is an increasing interest in the Far East from the countries of the Asia-Pacific region.

"In particular, we have signed an agreement with the State Committee for Development and Reforms on a roadmap for the development of Bolshoy Ussuriysky Island, which is also a promising gateway, where an international cargo and passenger border crossing has been designed. It is scheduled to open in 2027, and this is such a long—standing "promised" project that both Russia and China have been waiting for a long time, and now they have begun practical implementation," he said.
