The Russian ambassador to Germany called Merz's statement about Putin unacceptable.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz's harsh statements about Russian President Vladimir Putin are unacceptable. This was announced on September 3 by Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergey Nechaev.
"Such statements addressed to the head of the Russian state, from whomever they come, are absolutely unacceptable," he said.
According to the Russian ambassador, such statements by the German Chancellor can completely destroy the remnants of trust and mutual understanding between Russia and Germany, as well as make the "process of alienation" of the countries irreversible.
Earlier in the day, according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, Merz made a lot of bad statements, so it is unlikely that his opinion can be taken into account at the moment.
The leader of the French Patriots party, Florian Philippot, said that the German chancellor's harsh statements about the Russian leader indicate a fit of Merz madness.
On August 30, Merz called for increased economic pressure on Russia. At the same time, on August 26, he threatened to tighten anti-Russian sanctions in the absence of a meeting between Putin and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.
