Moscow commemorates victims of the terrorist attack in Beslan in 2004
A commemorative event was held in Moscow on the anniversary of the hostages' release at the monument to the victims of the terrorist attack in Beslan in 2004. The footage of the September 3 event is published by Izvestia.
According to tradition, 334 white balls were launched into the sky. The participants of the event honored the memory of the victims with a minute of silence. White and red carnations, baskets of flowers were laid at the monument, and people also brought bottles of water and children's toys.
A memorial service for the victims was also held at the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin on Kulishki, at the entrance to which the monument is located.
On September 1, residents of Beslan also paid tribute to those killed in the tragedy. Mourning events in memory of the victims of the terrorist attack began in the morning. People lined up at the destroyed gym to lay flowers at the photos of the dead and light candles. In the cultural and patriotic center "Beslan. School No. 1" on the same day, an exhibition was opened, featuring the hostages' belongings, items from school classrooms, as well as stands showing the development of the tragedy minute by minute.
On August 20, 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed Sergei Menyailo to keep under control the criminal case of the terrorist attack in Beslan. On September 11, 2024, the Investigative Committee of Russia announced that the composition of the investigative team in the case of the terrorist attack that occurred at school No. 1 in Beslan in 2004 would be increased. In addition, the chairman of the Investigative Committee stated that it is necessary to analyze the case materials collected at the initial stage.
