On September 3, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin took part in the launch of passenger traffic of Russia's first unmanned tram, which follows route No. 10 Shchukinskaya Metro Station — Kulakova Street in the north-west of the city.

"This is a landmark day not only for Moscow transport, but also for Russian transport in general. We are launching the first unmanned tram in Russia of the third level. That is, a tram that will run without drivers," Sobyanin said before the launch of the tram.

He added that Moscow has assembled high technologies in the field of unmanned vehicles. Companies such as Yandex and Sber are engaged in them, and there is also an Unmanned Transport Center, whose task is to create specific technologies for specific types of urban transport.

"In two years, in fact, the guys have implemented this project, tested it. And today we are starting a real unmanned movement. Have a good trip!" said Sobyanin.

The mayor also said that three more unmanned trams will be launched by the end of the year, and in 2026 there will be 15 of them. The next task, according to Sobyanin, is to launch an unmanned train in the subway.

"This year we will also start testing the first unmanned subway train, and next year, having completed all the stages, we will launch a real unmanned subway train. So there are prospects in these technologies, we are not waiting for anyone, we are moving actively," concluded the mayor.

On August 29, Sobyanin spoke about plans to create the Luhmanovskaya transport hub. According to him, Luhmanovskaya will serve as a transport hub for motorists arriving in Moscow, including along the M-12 Vostok highway connecting Moscow with the capital of Tatarstan.
