Zakharova predicted transformations in society due to the widespread use of AI

The effects of widespread artificial intelligence (AI) around the world can lead to serious transformations in society. This was announced on September 3 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, during the session of the Eastern Economic Forum –2025 (WEF-2025) "Measuring the social impact of AI: progress, risks, development paths".

She stressed the importance of not stopping in development, but of marking "points for slalom" or, conversely, climbing and solving problems that arise, as well as developing in this way. She called the all-encompassing and uncontrolled introduction of self-learning algorithms into the life environment an unexplored environment.

"The effects of the ubiquity of artificial intelligence may not be noticeable right now. But in the long term, they can cause serious and not always positive transformations in society in the broadest sense of the word, but also as factors shaping a person who will pass it on through inheritance," Zakharova said.

At the same time, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry clarified that users should not be blamed for opposing technological development. She also pointed out the dangers that occur in practical work with AI.

So, Zakharova noted the degradation of people's cognitive apparatus as dependence on neural network prompts on any issue increases. According to her, introducing a child to close interaction with AI from an early age is comparable to the loss of handwriting skills against the background of the widespread switch to keyboard devices due to the reflexive use of a neural network in order to get a hint.

An interactive simulator for working out problematic situations is planned to be introduced for the staff of the MFC.

Earlier, on June 9, Dmitry Grigorenko, Deputy Prime Minister and Chief of Staff of the Government of the Russian Federation, announced the Cabinet's intention to create an AI Development Center in order to systematize the introduction of technologies in the territory of the state. It was clarified that one of the tasks would be to replicate the best practices available in Russia. "Best practices" refers to solutions that have become not only effective, but also safe.
