The resignation of French President Emmanuel Macron will shake up diplomacy in the European Union (EU), but will not resolve the crisis in the country. This was reported by the Politico newspaper on September 3.

"Although Macron's departure will be a real earthquake on the European diplomatic scene, there are growing doubts that he will be able to resolve the impasse in which the Fifth Republic finds itself," the article says.

According to the publication, French politics is in paralysis. In this regard, the possible resignation of Macron is being discussed openly. It is noted that the president is looking for a new prime minister to replace Francois Bayrou.

At the same time, Politico is convinced that the new French prime minister is unlikely to solve the problem of public debt. It is clarified that if Macron resigns, his successor will face the same problems.

Earlier, on August 26, the BFMTV channel, citing a survey, reported the position of 72% of the French in favor of the resignation of the Bayrou government. At the same time, 45% of French citizens "do not approve at all" of the prime minister's policy, and 27% — "not at all."

Before that, on July 20, the newspaper Le Figaro reported a drop in the ratings of Macron and Bayrou to record lows. It was clarified that this pair formed the "most unpopular tandem" in almost the entire history of the country. The president's approval rating was 19%, and his prime minister's was 18%.
