- A festive parade in honor of the 35th anniversary of the republic was held in Pridnestrovie
The military parade in honor of the 35th anniversary of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (PMR) began in Tiraspol on Suvorov Square. This was reported on September 2 by Sputnik Moldova in the Telegram channel.
President of the PMR Vadim Krasnoselsky and his wife arrived at the celebration, and together with him the first President of the Republic Igor Smirnov, Prime Minister Alexander Rosenberg and Chairman of the Supreme Council Alexander Korshunov attended the celebration.
"The main achievement of the inhabitants of Pridnestrovie is interethnic harmony, respect for each other, regardless of languages, religions. <...> This distinguishes the entire Pridnestrovian people, probably, from many states around us. And it shows an example of how people of different nationalities should live on one small land. Respect each other, be tolerant of each other," Krasnoselsky emphasized.
Veterans, labor collectives and government representatives laid flowers at the graves of the defenders of Pridnestrovie, honored the memory of the dead. It is noted that a large number of residents of the capital arrived to watch the jubilee parade.
Other cities of the PMR also celebrate the independence of the republic. A procession and laying of flowers at the memorial to the internationalist soldiers took place in Kamenka. So, at a rally at the "City of Military Glory" stele in Bendery, Mayor Roman Ivanchenko presented awards to public figures, teachers, builders and engineers.
Krasnoselsky, in an address on the occasion of the Day of the deployment of Russian peacekeeping forces in Transnistria on July 29, stated that the inhabitants of the PMR are grateful to Russia for the peacekeeping operation in the region and advocate its continuation. The politician noted that in modern conditions it is extremely important that the current peacekeeping operation continues, and its format is not subject to revision.
On July 19, Russian Ambassador to Moldova Oleg Ozerov announced that Russia had minimized its military presence in the unrecognized Transnistrian region, where it conducts a peacekeeping operation and guards ammunition depots. The diplomat added that, in accordance with the decisions taken, the Russian Federation is pursuing a policy of reducing its military presence on the left bank of the Dniester.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on July 17 that the European Union (EU) and NATO were forcibly militarizing Moldova. According to Zakharova, Chisinau assured of its commitment to the peaceful settlement of the conflict in Transnistria, "however, it does not follow its position."
