- Rutte announced the purchase of $2 billion worth of weapons by NATO from the United States for Ukraine
NATO countries have purchased $2 billion worth of lethal and defensive weapons from the United States for Ukraine. This was announced on September 2 by the Secretary General of the alliance Mark Rutte.
On August 25, US President Donald Trump announced that the United States had stopped spending on the Ukrainian conflict. According to him, the United States no longer pays Ukraine any money, but sells weapons to NATO. He added that the money was irrevocably given to Ukraine by former US President Joe Biden, "who did not understand what he was doing." On August 26, the Financial Times newspaper reported that Western states want to create three lines of defense in Ukraine as part of the conflict settlement. It was clarified that the main border would be controlled by Ukrainian troops, armed and trained by NATO military personnel.
