Russia is ready to maintain strategic cooperation with China and strengthen high-level contacts. This was announced on September 2 by Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

"Russia is ready to maintain strategic coordination with China, strengthen high—level contacts and expand practical cooperation in various fields to promote the further development of high-level bilateral relations," the Xinghua news agency quoted the Russian leader as saying.

Xi Jinping, in turn, pointed out the need for Moscow and Beijing to continue strengthening cooperation on such multilateral platforms as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), BRICS and the Group of Twenty (G20).
