An eight-year-old boy suffered a leg injury after being bitten by a shark while snorkeling off Key Largo and was urgently taken to the Miami Trauma Center. This was reported on September 1 by the CBS News channel.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, the victim was evacuated by air to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami.

"It will be a victim of a shark bite in the leg," they recorded in the audio recording of emergency calls. Authorities also said that the U.S. Coast Guard and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission had been notified of the attack.

Earlier, on August 18, it was reported about a 63-year-old tourist from the United States who was seriously injured after being attacked by a shark while spearfishing on the Abaco Islands. The Bahamas police noted that shark attacks in the region are a rare occurrence. Only 34 cases have been confirmed in 400 years.
