In Belgrade, several central streets were blocked amid the latest protests, and the city was "stuck in traffic jams." On September 1, correspondent Sergey Petrov told Izvestia about this.

"Several central streets are blocked in Belgrade, where there is usually quite heavy traffic <...> The whole city is stuck in traffic jams, starting even from the very outskirts," he said.

It is specified that the march was organized jointly with students and students of secondary educational institutions. The protest action is of a memorial nature — today marks 10 months since the tragedy in Novi Sad, where 15 people died after the roof collapsed at the train station. The marches began after this incident and have been going on for months.

Earlier, on August 26, Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic reported on the use of physical force by protesters in front of the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad in order to prevent police officers from approaching the building. It was clarified that the dean had called the police. At the same time, law enforcement officers, according to the Izvestia source, tried not to use force.

Later, on August 27, Vladimir Zharikhin, a political scientist and deputy director of the CIS Institute, told Izvestia that the incitement of anti-government actions in Serbia was connected with the desire of the European Union (EU) to integrate the state into the "marching ranks" of all European countries. According to him, the protests in the state are clearly initiated from the outside. The political scientist added that Serbia is largely integrated into the European market and it is difficult for the authorities to plan their actions without imposing economic restrictions on the country.

Anti-government protests began after 15 people died in the collapse of the railway station in Novi Sad in November 2024. The protesters blocked bridges and roads.
