The psychologist told about the child's preparation for September 1
Before September 1, parents experience more anxiety than children, so adults need to stop burdening this day with their fears and worries for the child. Anastasia Tochilina, president of the Association of Consulting Psychologists and Gestalt therapist, told about this on Monday, September 1.
The psychologist advised on the eve of Knowledge Day and after this holiday not to radically change the situation and lead a natural lifestyle for the family. It is especially not necessary to burden this day with anxiety, she stressed.
"In our culture, autumn has always been associated with many processes: for centuries, September 1 was considered the beginning of the year, and church holidays were timed to coincide with it. <...> Autumn is also a preparation for the future, the beginning of a new cycle. And when we take a child to the ruler, it's also a ritual. The lineup is an initiation into a new role," the psychologist said in a conversation with Lenta.Ru .
According to the specialist, before this day it is necessary to convince the child of his support in the new daily routine. In elementary school, you need to give a young student self—confidence before starting classes, in middle school you need to ask for help, offer to buy something for school, make up a school schedule together, in high school you need to go shopping together.
She recommended thinking about how to make life easier in September. You can come up with family rituals that will support you.
"For example, there is a rule in my family: We always have breakfast together and share our plans for the day. We always have dinner and discuss events. We see the children off with a smile, we never create an atmosphere of irritation before going out," concluded Tochilina.
In turn, Natalia Eyring, a practical psychologist and founder of the Time to Live psychology center, told RIAMO that many people used to consider September 1 as the beginning of a new stage, but often life remains the same after that day. The psychologist recommended using the three-circle method to determine priorities and assign tasks. 360.ru .
On August 31, analysts at Skysmart, an online school for children and teenagers, told Izvestia that every sixth parent is happy about the start of the school season and the child's return to school, and a third feels nostalgic about their own school years.
According to the survey, Knowledge Day causes contradictory feelings among Russians — from light sadness to anxiety, but not many are indifferent to it. Every third Russian (30%) feels nostalgic and remembers his school years with sadness and warmth.
For the majority, the beginning of the school year is associated with their own child: one in five (20%) worries about how the child will study, and parents of older students feel a sense of pride: he is already such an adult and independent (23%).
