The production designer of Treasure Island, Radna Sakhaltuev, has died at the age of 90.

Soviet and Ukrainian artist, director of the animated films "The Adventures of Captain Vrungel" and "Treasure Island" Radna Sakhaltuev died at the age of 91. This was announced on September 1 by the Ukrainian film critic Sergey Trimbach.

It is noted that the production designer died on August 31 in Kiev.

"Summer is over, and the count of the days of Radna is over. Goodbye, dear, draw new worlds and send them to us somehow," he wrote on his Facebook page (owned by Meta, recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation and banned).

Radna Sakhaltuev was born on May 15, 1935 in Ulan-Ude. In 1955, he entered the art faculty of the Moscow Institute of Cinematography (VGIK), and from 1960 he worked in Kiev at the Kyivnauchfilm studio as an assistant production designer. Sakhaltuev's works include animated films "The Adventures of Captain Vrungel", the two-part film "Treasure Island", as well as "Doctor Aibolit", "The Secret of the Black King",

In addition, the animator was one of the leading artists of the Ukrainian satirical and humorous magazine "Perets", where he illustrated the children's magazine "Znayka". In 1988, Sakhaltuev was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR.
