Putin said the importance of China and India's efforts to resolve the conflict in Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on September 1 that Moscow highly appreciates the efforts of China and India in resolving the Ukrainian crisis.

"We greatly appreciate the efforts and proposals of China, India and our other strategic partners designed to help resolve the Ukrainian crisis," he said during a speech at a meeting of the leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

He also noted that he hopes for progress on a settlement in Ukraine based on the mutual understanding reached at the Russian-American summit in Alaska. During the bilateral meetings scheduled for September 1 and 2, he promised to inform his colleagues in detail about the results of these negotiations.

Earlier in the day, Putin said that the Ukrainian conflict began because of the provocations of Western states, which led to a coup in Kiev. He also noted that the second reason for the Ukrainian crisis is the constant attempts by Western countries to draw Ukraine into the North Atlantic Alliance.
