The parliamentary elections in Moldova, scheduled for September 28, will be held in an atmosphere of fear and pressure on the opposition. This was stated to Izvestia by Moldovan political analyst Alexander Korinenko.

"The ruling PAS party has taken many punitive measures. Someone was kicked out of the election race, someone was imprisoned, and street protests were dispersed by force. Everything happens in conditions of an information blockade, when opposition parties do not have access to television. The ruling team controls all three branches of government today, and a pocket Constitutional Court has just been appointed," he explained.

The expert also noted that the ruling party is unlikely to receive more than 30% of the vote inside the country, but it places great hopes on mobilizing the diaspora.

"In this matter, however, not everything is so simple. There are also a lot of dissatisfied Moldovan migrants, besides, these people traditionally swing only for the second round, while the parliamentary elections will be held in one round. In turn, the apathy of the population is a big problem for the opposition, many do not believe that anything can be changed at the elections. Opponents of the authorities have 30 days to convince these people," says Korinenko.

On August 24, Russian Ambassador to Moldova Oleg Ozerov said that the European Union openly interferes in the country's affairs, hiding behind slogans of European integration. According to him, this is reflected in the allocation of grants to non-governmental organizations (NGOs), which are mainly engaged in discrediting relations with Russia.

Earlier, on June 4, a member of the Moldovan Parliament from the Social Party, Bogdan Cirdea, said that the President of the Republic, Maia Sandu, was not seeking to solve the republic's problems, as she intended to leave the republic after completing her mandate and take up a post in the EU.
