- The IKI RAS warned of the beginning of a powerful magnetic storm on Earth on September 2.
A powerful G2-G4 level magnetic storm will begin on September 2, after the plasma cloud ejected by the Sun reaches the Earth. This was announced on August 31 at the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at the Institute of Space Research (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
"Previously, solar matter will come to Earth's orbit during Tuesday, September 2, causing G2-G4 magnetic storms," the Telegram channel said.
According to scientists, the direction of motion and angular dimensions of the plasma cloud ejected by the sun exclude the possibility of its passing by the Earth. The laboratory added that a more accurate forecast of the time when the storm will occur will be published on September 1.
In addition, the IKI RAS stated that at the moment the main danger is posed by repeated emissions, which, according to scientists, may occur.
On August 30, the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at the IKI RAS reported that a plasma cloud had been ejected from the Sun towards Earth and a number of other planets. According to preliminary information, the ejecta has an average mass, and also does not correspond to the full reserves of matter and energy that were accumulated in the large central groups of the star's spots.
