- The IKI RAS reported the release of a plasma cloud by the Sun towards the Earth
A plasma cloud was ejected from the Sun towards Earth and a number of other planets. This was announced on August 30 at the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at the Institute of Space Research (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
"In a complex of large active regions located in the center of the Sun, plasma has just been released in the direction of the Earth," the Telegram channel said.
It is specified that the cloud was also thrown towards Mercury and Venus. According to preliminary information, the ejecta has an average mass, and also does not correspond to the full reserves of matter and energy that were accumulated in the large central groups of the star's spots.
In addition, the IKI RAS noted that information about the exact direction and velocity of the ejection, as well as the likely time of arrival of the plasma to the Earth, will appear after observations from ground and space facilities are received.
In addition, the laboratory added that synchronously with the release of the plasma cloud, the strongest flare of the M2.76 level was recorded since August 26.
On the same day, the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at the Institute of Space Research reported that a sharp jump in energy release was recorded in the active region of the Sun. It is specified that at the moment there is a series of flashes of level M in this area. The laboratory added that the explosive processes are localized in one area.
