Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed an order extending the powers of the head of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin. The document was posted on August 30 on the official Internet portal of legal information.
"To extend the term of federal public service until August 27, 2026. Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin, Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia," the document says.
The decree of the head of state was signed on August 27.
The fact that the President of the Russian Federation extended Bastrykin's term of office as chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation on August 26 was also reported by TASS, citing a source. It was clarified that the relevant order was signed "the other day."
Bastrykin has been Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia since 2011. Prior to that, since 2007, he was the head of the Investigative Committee of Russia at the Prosecutor's Office.
