There have been 375 road accidents in Russia over the past 24 hours.
Over the past day, 375 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 43 people were killed and 461 injured. 35 of the dead were passengers and drivers. This was reported to Izvestia on August 29 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
In Blagoveshchensk, Amur region, a 45-year-old passenger car driver decided to skip a railroad crossing at a forbidding traffic light, but collided with a passenger train locomotive. The motorist died.
The State Traffic Inspectorate reminded motorists of the importance of observing the rules of passage of railway crossings, since this maneuver is considered dangerous and requires the driver to concentrate and pay maximum attention. The traffic regulations explicitly prohibit traveling on railway tracks outside the crossing. The maneuver is impossible when the barrier is closed or closing, or when the traffic light or crossing attendant is forbidding. A driver moving through a railway crossing must be extremely careful at night, as well as in adverse weather conditions and limited visibility.
23 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which one person was killed, and 37 more road users needed medical help. Nine bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by their drivers.
As a result of 91 accidents, 34 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 57 outside their area of operation, eight pedestrians were killed, and 87 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 24 child pedestrians, eight of whom were injured while crossing the roadway in designated areas. 61 accidents involving minors were registered, in which 69 young road users were injured, including 31 passengers, four cyclists and seven motor transport drivers. Three children were killed: one child passenger and two pedestrians.
So, in the Krasnodar Territory, on 183 km of the federal highway R-217 Kavkaz, a 43-year-old female driver, distracted from driving a car by the children she was transporting in the cabin, drove into the oncoming lane in a prohibited place, where she collided with a truck. Her 14-year-old passenger, who was in the front passenger seat, died in the accident. Two more minor passengers of the car (a 15-year-old teenager and a five-year-old girl) were injured and ended up in the hospital. Both injured children were in the back and were strapped in, while the youngest passenger was also in a child restraint.
In one of the gardening non-profit associations in the Tver region, an intoxicated 35-year-old crossover driver did not notice a two-year-old child at the beginning of the movement, who, accompanied by his father, was at the front of the car, and ran over him. The boy died.
In the city of Verkhnyaya Salda, Sverdlovsk region, a 66-year-old crossover driver at an unregulated pedestrian crossing knocked down a nine-year-old schoolboy who was running across the roadway in front of a nearby vehicle towards his mother, who was on the opposite side of the road near a store. The boy died.
On the eve of the early start of autumn, the State Traffic Inspectorate drew the attention of parents to the need to monitor their children's leisure time on the eve of the end of school holidays, especially in the evening. The lack or negligence of control over the behavior and leisure of children often leads to injury or death of young road users. The agency called for the use of retroreflective elements on children's outerwear to improve the visibility of young pedestrians on the road.
After a long rest, the students returned home to prepare for the new school year, so drivers are advised to be more careful on the roads of towns and cities. Special care should be taken when approaching intersections, pedestrian crossings, railway crossings, park areas and other problem areas, from where pedestrians, cyclists or users of personal mobility equipment who neglect their own safety issues may unexpectedly appear on the road for the driver.
Drivers were advised to slow down to the minimum speed in advance in order to have time to react and stop the vehicle in case of a sudden change in the road situation. The behavior of children who have become unaccustomed to busy city roads over the summer can often be unpredictable.
"We remind motorists that when driving a car with child passengers in the cabin, they should be doubly attentive and careful not to create emergency situations. Do not be distracted while driving, do not exceed the set speed limit, observe a safe side interval and the distance between vehicles, abandon the risky manner of driving, overtaking and entering the lane of oncoming traffic, even in the places allowed for this," said the deputy head of the Department of road safety promotion and prevention of child traffic injuries GUOBDD. Russian Interior Ministry Police Colonel Anton Belan.
On August 25, the Moscow State Traffic Inspectorate announced a citywide preventive event on the eve of the new school year. It will be held from August 25 to September 5. On September 1, the entrances to all schools will be under special control of traffic inspectors, and traffic police posts will be close to them. In each district of the capital, traffic police will hold various events, promotions and briefings with schoolchildren and their parents.
