The Finnish Air Force Command has decided to remove the swastika from the flags of its units. This was announced on August 28 by the Yle television and radio company, referring to the new commander of the Karelian Aviation Regiment, Tomi Boehm.

"The swastika is planned to be removed from the flags of the Air Force units as part of the reform of the Air Force flags," the material says.

It clarifies that the reason for the changes was external pressure and uncomfortable situations that arise when cooperating with foreign partners, in particular, with the Americans.

The swastika has been used in the symbols of the Finnish Air Force since 1918, and until 1945 it was applied to airplanes. In the 1950s, the symbol appeared on flags. Currently, the Finnish Air Force headquarters has already abandoned its use.

Earlier, on August 25, Polish President Karol Nawrocki called for the symbol of Ukrainian nationalist leader Stepan Bandera to be equated with symbols that correspond to German National Socialism and banned in the country.

On the same day, Ukraine warned the Polish leader of its readiness to take retaliatory measures if the Sejm of the republic adopts a law banning red and black symbols associated with the Bandera movement. It was noted that equating Ukrainian symbols with Nazi and Communist ones could cause an increase in negative sentiments in Ukrainian society.
