The Russian government has prepared a draft on granting veteran status to volunteers who have signed an agreement with the Russian Ministry of Defense from October 2022 to September 2023. This was announced on August 28 by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin at a cabinet meeting.

"Appropriate adjustments to federal legislation have been prepared so that the guys who signed an agreement with the Ministry of Defense from October 2022 to September 2023 will also be provided with appropriate social guarantees," Mishustin said.

The Prime Minister stressed that the volunteers performed important tasks, showed courage and heroism, and therefore each of them will have the opportunity to obtain the status of a veteran or a disabled combatant.
