The United States allowed the import of certain types of diamonds from the Russian Federation

The import of certain categories of Russian diamonds was allowed in the United States. This is stated in the license published on August 27 on the website of the American Ministry of Finance.

"All operations prohibited by the definition of February 8, 2024, <...> are allowed until 00:01 Eastern Summer time on September 1, 2026," the document says.

The key requirement is that diamonds must be physically located outside of Russia before they are imported into the United States and must not be imported or re-exported from Russia.

This condition applies to Russian diamonds weighing from one carat, which were delivered outside of Russia before March 1, 2024. For diamonds weighing 0.5 carats or more, this period is until September 1, 2024.
