The State Duma assessed the 19th package of anti-Russian sanctions
The European Union believed that three packages of sanctions would be enough for Russia's economy to collapse, and it turned to both the EU and NATO for help, but this did not happen. This was stated by State Duma deputy Alexei Chepa on Wednesday, August 27.
Earlier, on August 26, Politico newspaper wrote that the EU believes that it is the United States that should impose serious sanctions against Russia.
According to several European diplomats, the new package of anti-Russian sanctions of the European union is not expected to include new serious restrictions on the sale of energy resources, according to the website. kp.ru .
European officials also intend to consider further options for using the proceeds from Moscow's frozen assets, NSN reports.
Chepa noted that each subsequent package of EU sanctions includes more and more foreign companies, courts, legal entities and individuals that interact with Russia. According to him, all this does not bring the expected result, so the Europeans threaten that the next package of sanctions will be the last, but nothing happens.
"This, of course, damages social development, but sanctions contribute to strict control over production, and this is a definite engine for the development of our industry. Therefore, today the sanctions are not only negative, but also positive," Chepa said in a conversation with Lenta.Ru .
The parliamentarian stressed that neither the 19th, nor the 20th, nor the subsequent packages will lead Russia to any disasters. At the same time, they can lead to the opposite effect in Europe itself, which is digging a hole for itself, he concluded.
The head of European diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, said on August 19 that the next, 19th package of EU sanctions against Russia should be ready by next month, RT reports. She added that Europe will continue to influence the Russian economy.
On the same day, Katerina Konechna, a member of the European Parliament (EP) from the Czech Republic, said that the restrictions imposed by the countries of the union against Russia did not exert significant pressure on the country, but only rallied it. She also stressed that Europe is not capable of continuing the conflict on the side of Ukraine, adding that almost 70% of Ukrainians want the end of hostilities.
