The sixth meeting of the Russian-Pakistani Military Advisory Committee on Defense and Security was held in Moscow, during which its participants gave a positive assessment of the current bilateral relations. This was announced on August 27 by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
The event was co-chaired by the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Colonel General Alexander Fomin, and the First Deputy Minister of Defense of Pakistan, Retired Lieutenant General Muhammad Ali.
"The parties gave a positive assessment to the dynamically developing mutually beneficial relations in the military field and confirmed their desire to maximize the use of the accumulated potential to strengthen military cooperation," the ministry's website says.
Another topic for discussion by the committee members was the military-political situation in Afghanistan. The parties discussed a wide range of issues in the region in depth and constructively.
Also on August 20, Colonel-General Fomin held a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Pakistan to the Russian Federation Muhammad Khalid Jamali. Further bilateral cooperation was discussed during the meeting. The Defense Ministry noted that the meeting was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
