Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov confirmed their commitment to strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries. The corresponding statement was published by the press service of the ministry on August 27 on the website after a telephone conversation between the diplomats.
"The heads of the foreign ministries confirmed their commitment to consistent joint work to strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance between Russia and Uzbekistan in accordance with the agreements reached by the heads of the two states," the material says.
In addition, the heads of departments discussed the development of Russian-Uzbek relations, the international agenda and regional security.
Earlier, on August 17, the Presidents of Russia and Uzbekistan, Vladimir Putin and Shavkat Mirziyoyev, discussed key issues of cooperation during a telephone conversation. It was clarified that at that time the Russian leader also informed Mirziyoyev about the results of the Russian-US summit in Alaska.
