On August 27, representatives of the Moldovan diaspora held a rally in Moscow in front of the Moldovan Embassy in support of the opening of new polling stations. Footage of the protest appeared at the disposal of Izvestia.

"We demand to open more polling stations on the territory of the Russian Federation," one of the protesters said during the rally.

The footage shows that groups of people from the Moldovan diaspora are standing on the street near a building with posters and banners that say "I have the right to vote," "Open polling stations in Russia," "Let us vote," "There are only two polling stations," and participants with flags of the republic were also present.

"We want to express our protest that the President of the Republic of Moldova [Maia Sandu], who is supposed to protect our interests, is, on the contrary, going against the people," another participant shared.

According to the protesters, they also have the right to participate in the elections in the republic, but the presence of only two polling stations will not allow all Moldovan residents living on Russian territory to vote.

The day before, the Moldovan diaspora also called for the opening of more polling stations on the territory of the Russian Federation. The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Moldova has approved only two polling stations in the Russian Federation for the parliamentary elections.

At the same time, Russia took the first place in terms of the number of registered citizens to vote, which amounted to more than 26 thousand people. According to the electoral Code, polling stations for citizens living in another country are opened if there are at least 500 registered voters.
