The publication clarifies that the young man's relatives, while searching for the cause of the incident, logged into the ChatGPT application on his phone, where they found Adam's correspondence with a bot that "helped him explore ways" of committing suicide. In the last weeks of his life, the teenager used a chatbot instead of communicating with people - there he described his anxiety, as well as listed problems with his family members.

"Despite Adam's admission of a suicide attempt and his statement that he would 'do it one of these days,' ChatGPT did not interrupt the session or initiate any emergency protocol," says the lawsuit against Open AI, which was sent to the California Supreme Court in San Francisco.

As specified in the article, the Rain family believes that the developer of this chatbot has not taken sufficient security measures, in particular for people under the age of majority.
