An earthquake of magnitude 5.5 occurred in the Caspian Sea. This was announced on August 26 by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC).

It is specified that the seismic event occurred at 20:33 UTC (23:33 Moscow time) 51 km northwest of the Dagestani city of Derbent with a population of 105 thousand people. The earthquake was located at a depth of 10 km.

There was no information about the victims.

On August 26, the Earthquake Monitoring Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Uzbekistan reported the second earthquake in Kyrgyzstan with a magnitude of 4.1. It was clarified that the seismic event was recorded at 15:31 Tashkent time (13:31 Moscow time).

A day earlier, an earthquake of magnitude 4.6 occurred in southern Kyrgyzstan near the city of Osh. The first tremors were recorded at 22:59 Uzbekistan time (20:59 Moscow time). The earthquake was located at a depth of 15 km, 343 km south-east of Tashkent.
