The psychologist listed the steps to recover from burnout
Burnout is a deep psychoemotional condition caused by chronic stress. It manifests itself as a triad of key symptoms: emotional exhaustion, cynicism, and alienation from something, someone, or life in general, as well as a sense of the futility of one's efforts. On August 27, a consultant on strategic and anti-crisis management, a practicing psychologist, candidate of psychological Sciences, General Director of OOO "Together.ABOUT " Olesya Berezhnaya.
According to her, this condition follows a long period of intense involvement in work, relationships, or caring for others. A person "burns out" not out of laziness, but, on the contrary, out of the best intentions: out of love for the cause, the desire to achieve an ambitious goal, the desire to be the best. That's why falling is so painful. The interior space turns into ashes, where there is no energy left.
"Turning from ashes into a phoenix is not an instant leap, but a path that you can walk on your own, revealing your own potential. I'll tell you five key steps that will help you regain your energy, find inner balance, and feel inspired and taste life again," Berezhnaya said.
The first and most important step, she noted, is realizing emptiness, accepting that you are on an emotional low. I have to admit, "I'm burned out." Not to fight this condition, but to study it. It's worth asking yourself questions: What was the fuel for the fire? At what point did the goal turn into a heavy "must"? Don't rush to fill the void right away — it's a valuable space to reboot. It is important to realize its power.
The next step is the integration of experience, the acceptance of the past, present and future. It is important to accept your experience without guilt and judgment. We need to realize what lessons and resources we have created in the past. Mentally support myself at that time and find the answer to the question: what have I learned from my past? In the present, you can find value even in negative emotions — they signal what is important, what needs to be accepted.
Then it's time to find the inner core, the fulcrum of the "I". A new foundation is being built from scratch — an internal pillar. It is necessary to have an honest dialogue with yourself by asking: What do I want as a person? What makes my heart light up? what gives my body energy and joy? The challenge is to find a purpose that resonates with all three parts of your being. The result of this step may be a personal credo — your inner compass.
"When there is a sense of support, it is important to start mapping resources and searching for energy sources. With support inside, you can build an external support system. Conduct an "energy audit" and make a list of what feeds you and also takes away energy. For the body, it can be sports, sleep, healthy eating. For a person — communication, hobbies, new knowledge," suggested the psychologist.
The final step is the transition to inspiration as a new reality. Inspiration is a "breath" of new meanings that fill the prepared void. Now, knowing yourself and your resources / potential, you can formulate goals that do not exhaust, but nourish.
"Ask yourself: what idea makes my heart beat faster? It is such aspirations that will fill the void with light and become a stable source of joy and balance. This is the way to an updated, more conscious version of yourself — one that controls your fire rather than burning in it," the expert concluded.
Earlier, on July 15, Evgenia Gankina, director of the Roskachestvo Organizational Development Department, said that a full-fledged return to work processes after burnout should be approached gradually. According to the expert, after feeling an improvement, a person often strives to get into business at full capacity as soon as possible, but it is haste that contributes to a new round of exhaustion.
