Only 19% of Russians surveyed are ready to buy a new Chinese car from an authorized dealer. On August 25, Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, provided such data in his Telegram channel following a survey among a professional audience.

The number of respondents was about 1,000, they were asked the question: "Which car will you buy next?" 17% of respondents chose to buy a used car, but with different approaches. The first part advocated the delivery of such a car from abroad, the second - for the search from the availability on classifieds and dealers.

16% of respondents are aiming to buy a new foreign car using alternative imports. As the analyst noted, this is a very high share, given that alternative occupies only 8% of the market. Another 10% said they would wait for the return of global brands (such as Toyota, Volkswagen, Hyundai and others).

"Only 4% replied that they would buy a Russian-made car, which is explained by the professional audience structure of Autostat's Telegram channels. The real market share of Russian brands exceeds 30%," the expert explained.

Another 4% of respondents said they would no longer buy cars. The remaining 13% found it difficult to answer.

Earlier, on August 20, it was reported that the volume of used passenger car imports from China to Russia has more than quadrupled in the first seven months of this year. If at the beginning of 2025, China accounted for only about 3% of the total structure of used cars imported into the Russian Federation, then by July this figure had increased to 16%.
