A criminal case has been opened against the former deputy director of the Main Military Construction Directorate (GVSU) No. 4 of the Ministry of Defense, Ivan Smetanyuk, for abuse of authority in the execution of a defense order. This was announced on August 25 by the Investigative Committee of Russia in its Telegram channel.

"Military investigators have seized Smetanyuk's property with a total value of 143 million rubles in order to secure a fine, civil action and property penalties," the ministry said in a statement.
