The summit of the leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states in Tianjin will be the largest of all time. This was announced on August 25 by Chinese Ambassador to Russia Zhang Hanhui.

"This summit will be the largest since the founding of the SCO, which indicates the joint expectations of the member states for the sake of deepening cooperation and attracts great attention from the international community," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

The diplomat added that the meeting will be attended by more than 20 heads of state, including Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The summit will be held from August 31 to September 1.

A day earlier, Putin's four-day visit to China was reported. The head of state will travel to China this week. During the visit, the delegations of the Russian Federation and China are scheduled to hold talks, as well as participate in the SCO summit in Tianjin. The next day, Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin arrived in China on an official visit to participate in the tenth meeting of the Interparliamentary Commission of the Russian Federation and China and a number of bilateral meetings.

On July 17, China expressed its willingness to cooperate with the SCO for peace in the Middle East. In addition, the Ministry noted that resolving the ongoing escalation in the Middle East meets the common interests of the countries of the region and the entire international community, and also stressed that the current situation there is still difficult and sensitive.
