A Russian swimmer went missing while swimming across the Bosphorus
Russian swimmer Nikolai Svechnikov went missing on August 24 while swimming through the Bosphorus Strait.
"I talked to the doctor who usually checks for participation. Participants are accepted only by professionals who are suitable for their health," said Alyona, an acquaintance of the athlete.
She said that the swim participants allegedly saw Svechnikov in the middle of the way, but they could not find him at the finish line.
According to one version, the man could have had a leg cramp, after which he was carried away by the current. The athlete does not know the local language and may be unconscious, so people who find Svechnikov may not be clear who he is and what should be done.
The missing Russian was reported to the police and hospitals. The Coast Guard is currently searching for the swimmer.
Earlier, on August 14, a female diver who disappeared while diving near Moneron Island was rescued on Sakhalin. 17 people and four pieces of equipment, including an Mi-8 helicopter, participated in the search operation.
