Ukraine began to strike civilian targets on the territory of the Russian Federation more often after the summit of the presidents of Russia and the United States in Alaska. The number of strikes increased from 300 to 430 per day, Rodion Miroshnik, the Russian Foreign Ministry's ambassador-at-large for crimes of the Kiev regime, told Izvestia.

"There have also been more casualties because the number of massive drone strikes has increased. We have about 90% of the victims — victims of drones. In Donetsk alone, 21 people were injured due to the arrival of HIMARS," Miroshnik told Izvestia.

The diplomat stressed that these were deliberate strikes, not collateral damage, but a targeted attack on the civilian population and civilian facilities.

On August 15, Russian President Vladimir Putin and American leader Donald Trump held talks in Alaska. According to the American leader, the parties have made significant progress, and the Kremlin noted that this meeting "brings us closer to the necessary decisions."
