In Russia, cell numbers linked to "Public Services" will be checked.

The mobile numbers of Russian citizens linked to Gosuslug accounts will be checked for relevance. This was announced on August 24 by TASS with reference to the action plan approved by the government.

The numbers used to register or log in to the "Public Services" are planned to be checked for user affiliation. If the number no longer belongs to the specified owner, it will be detached from the account.

The task of checking cell numbers was assigned to the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Economic Development, Roskomnadzor and the FSB. The deadline is the fourth quarter of 2026.

The initiative can help in the fight against fraudsters gaining access to other people's accounts.

Earlier in the day, the Interior Ministry reported that the scammers had come up with a new way to cheat. They steal money and access to men's "Public Services" allegedly on behalf of employees of military enlistment offices.
