A group of 10 tourists disappeared in the area of a volcano on the island of Iturup

A tourist group consisting of 10 people disappeared in the area of the Baransky volcano on the island of Iturup in the Sakhalin region. This was announced on August 24 by the head of the Kurilsky Municipal District (MO) of the Sakhalin Region Konstantin Istomin in the Telegram channel.

"A tourist group of 10 people did not get in touch in the area of the Baransky volcano," he said.

Employees of the Interior Ministry department, rescuers and a representative of the district administration were involved in organizing rescue operations. Currently, six people are engaged in the search.

Earlier, on August 14, a female diver who disappeared while diving near Moneron Island was rescued on Sakhalin. 17 people and four pieces of equipment, including an Mi-8 helicopter, participated in the search operation.
