Stanislav Tarasov, a political scientist and expert on the problems of the Middle East and the Caucasus, believes that the statement by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev about the country's readiness for unpredictable conflicts is connected with the visit of Iranian President Masoud Peseshkian to Armenia.

According to the expert, this reflects the tension of the agreements and unknown details that are present in the memorandum signed on August 8 in Washington.

"There are serious details that the parties are keeping silent about. This week, the Iranian president visited Yerevan. He suggested that Armenia sign a strategic agreement defining the status of the Zangezur corridor. Azerbaijan is not satisfied with this," Tarasov said on Friday, August 22, in an interview with Lenta.Ru .

On August 8, Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan signed a declaration on the peaceful settlement of the conflict. During the meeting in Washington, they agreed to end the confrontation and resume diplomatic relations. Pashinyan then said that Yerevan and Baku had established peace by signing documents in the United States.

Later, on August 11, the Foreign Ministries of Azerbaijan and Armenia first published the text of the initialed peace agreement. The agreement consists of 17 points and includes, among other things, an agreement to recognize and respect each other's sovereignty, territorial integrity, inviolability of international borders and political independence.
