- The political scientist called the US decision to stop transmitting data a challenge for British intelligence.
The US decision to stop transmitting intelligence to its allies in the Five Eyes alliance is a serious challenge for the intelligence services of the countries of the anglosphere. This was stated on August 22 by American political scientist Malek Dudakov.
"You need to understand that the United States accounted for and accounts for about 80-90% of all intelligence information that passes through the channels of this kind of Five Eyes coalition. That is, Britain and other countries of the Anglosphere are simply unable to replace the flow of data from the CIA, the NSA, and so on," the source said.
The political scientist drew attention to the fact that the reduction in intelligence sharing indicates the US distrust of Britain. According to him, the American side is concerned about the large number of leaks of information concerning non-public negotiations. This could lead to important data ending up in the hands of adversaries such as China.
In addition, Dudakov mentioned the dissatisfaction of the administration of US President Donald Trump with Britain's domestic policy, including laws restricting freedom of speech on social networks.
On August 21, the CBS television and radio network reported that the United States had stopped transmitting intelligence related to the settlement in Ukraine to its Five Eyes allies.. The ban applies to members of the intelligence alliance — Great Britain, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, and also restricts the internal dissemination of information within the US intelligence agencies themselves. At the same time, diplomatic and military data unrelated to the negotiations continue to be transmitted to partners and Ukraine.
On August 18, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and Trump met at the White House. The closed-door talks lasted about 30 minutes. After that, the American and Ukrainian presidents talked with the leaders of the European Union countries. Trump said that Moscow is not against Kiev receiving security guarantees.
