The property of employees of the Directorate of the Military Service of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Yuri Zakharenko and Mikhail Baranov, whose total value is 14 million rubles, was arrested in a case of abuse of authority. This was reported on August 21 in the Main Military Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

"The investigation revealed that in December 2021, a contract for the supply of security systems worth more than 300 million rubles was signed between the state customer and Argent Alliance LLC. The responsibilities for organizing quality control and timing of delivery of security equipment were assigned to Zakharenko and Baranov," the department's Telegram channel says.

In August 2022, employees, abusing their official powers, organized the signing of a fictitious act of checking the technical characteristics of communication complexes that did not comply with the terms of the state contract. Such actions led to damage to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation for more than 300 million rubles.

A criminal case was opened against Zakharenko and Baranov in accordance with paragraph "b" of Part 2 of Article 285.4 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Abuse of official authority in the execution of a state defense order").

According to the investigation, he entered into a criminal conspiracy with the heads of contractors who worked at the facilities of the Ministry of Defense.
