During excavations in Veliky Novgorod archeology, a lead seal from the reign of Prince Yaroslav the Wise was discovered. The relevant information was published on the official website of the Institute of Archeology of the Russian Academy of Sciences on August 21.

"On one side of the bull is a pectoral image of St. George with a spear on his right shoulder and a shield on his left, and on the other is a pectoral image of a man in a cloak fastened at his right shoulder with a round brooch, wearing a pointed helmet. The name and title of the depicted are indicated in columnar inscriptions on the sides: YAROSLAV is the RUSSIAN PRINCE," the statement says.

It is noted that the find was attributed to the period after 1019. According to the institute, six more similar seals have been found on the territory of Ukraine over the past 20 years.

On June 12, archaeologists discovered the last lead seal from the time of Ivan III in Romanov Lane in Moscow. It was clarified that the object was found in the layer of the first half–the middle of the XVI century. The exhibit became the most valuable find, despite the fact that over 3 thousand objects were discovered in just a few years.
