The Russian scientist was detained in Mongolia by employees of the migration service
In Mongolia, on Tuesday, August 19, law enforcement officers detained Russian nuclear physicist Andrei Ozharovsky without explanation.
The incident occurred while exploring abandoned uranium quarries in the area of the Mardai deposit.
"Neither the police representative nor the representative of the migration service could tell me the reason for the detention. I consider the confiscation of my passport as detention, because I am deprived of freedom of movement. So I'm detained," he told RBC.
The scientist explained that he came to the country at the invitation of environmental activists from Mongolia who are fighting against uranium mining.
