Russia does not abandon any negotiation formats on Ukraine, either bilateral or trilateral. This was announced on August 19 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

"We are not abandoning any forms of work, either bilateral or trilateral, President [of Russia Vladimir Putin] has repeatedly said this," the diplomat said in an interview with Rossiya-24 TV channel.

Lavrov added that Russia will always support a serious approach to negotiations, rather than idle discussions that are conducted in order to "remove the propaganda foam." Moscow is interested in the expert level of the approach, starting from which, step by step, it is possible to go through all the necessary steps to prepare for the next summits.

On the same day, US President Donald Trump announced the beginning of a search for a place for talks between Putin and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. The American leader stressed that US Vice President Jay Dee Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and special envoy of the American leader Stephen Witkoff are coordinating their actions with Russia and Ukraine.

At the same time, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said that Putin and Trump discussed the idea of a possible increase in the level of representatives of the Russian Federation and Ukraine at the talks. He also said that during the telephone conversation, the leaders expressed support for direct negotiations between the delegations of Russia and Ukraine.
