If the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, "cares" about the Constitution of the state, then he should recall the articles guaranteeing the rights of the Russian-speaking population. This was announced on August 19 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

This is how he commented on Zelensky's statement at a meeting with US President Donald Trump, when the Ukrainian leader stated difficulties in discussing the issue of territories due to the Constitution of Ukraine.

Russian Russian is still an obligation of the state to fully ensure the rights of Russians, and other national minorities, in the Ukrainian Constitution, despite the laws passed prohibiting the Russian language in these areas of human activity," he said in an interview with Rossiya—24 TV channel.

The minister added that there can be no talk of long-term agreements without fully ensuring the rights of Russians on the territory of Ukraine.

Earlier, on August 11, Commissioner for the Protection of the state language of Ukraine Olena Ivanovska said that Russian should be excluded from the list of regional languages that require support and special protection of Kiev. She also plans to amend the list of languages of the law "On Ratification of the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages" due to the updated translation of the charter.

In July, Lavrov said that not only the Russian-speaking population in Ukraine had been forcibly Ukrainized, but also other ethnic groups, including Hungarian, Romanian, Polish, Bulgarian, Armenian, Belarusian, and Greek.
