- A man who planned a terrorist attack at a Moscow university on instructions from Ukraine has been detained.
Law enforcement officers detained a young man who, on the instructions of curators from Ukraine, planned to commit a terrorist attack in a Moscow higher educational institution on September 1. This was announced on August 19 by a source of Izvestia.
Instructions were sent to the defendant via Telegram, and he was supposed to receive $2,4 thousand for committing the crime. The manufactured improvised explosive device (IED) was disguised as a fire extinguisher. After taking it from the cache, the terrorist kept the IED at home. The man was supposed to detonate the device remotely after the freshmen gathered for a solemn meeting.
A criminal case has been opened on the preparation of a terrorist act. The man immediately confessed.
"On the basis of his social democratic and political beliefs, he communicated on a social network with a user under the pseudonym Maxim Tchaikovsky. He offered me a job at the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. To do this, I recruited people on social media. After that, I was offered to commit a terrorist attack at the Timiryazev Academy," the defendant said during his arrest.
Earlier in the day, the FSB's public relations center reported the arrest of a native of Central Asia who planned to set fire to a train that also justified the terrorist attack at the Crocus City Hall concert hall near Moscow. The attacker was arrested in Udmurtia. Criminal cases have been initiated, and the person involved has been poisoned in custody.
