In Taganrog, a criminal case was opened into the death of workers in a sewer. This was announced on August 18 by the press service of the Investigative Department (SU) of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia in the Rostov region.
"The Investigative Department <...> has opened a criminal case on the fact of violation of safety rules during work, which negligently resulted in the death of two persons (Part 3 of Article 216 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation)," reads a message posted on the Telegram channel.
According to the investigation, the incident occurred on August 16. The bodies of two installers carrying out repair work were found in the sewer with signs of poisoning. It is specified that they were 30 and 38 years old.
The department added that the investigators examined the scene and questioned the employees of the contractor. In addition, searches were also conducted in this organization, during which they seized documentation that is relevant to the criminal case.
On August 14, it was reported that three workers were killed and two injured in a fall from a height at the TPP-2 in Vladivostok. It was noted that the brickwork collapsed under them. Later, on August 15, the head and foreman of the construction and installation site involved in the incident at CHPP-2 were detained. They are suspected of committing a crime under Part 3 of Article 216 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of safety rules during construction or other work that negligently resulted in the death of two or more persons").
