The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Russia explained the differences between a real call for questioning and deception by fraudsters. This was reported on August 18 by RIA Novosti with reference to the agency's materials.

It is specified that for an official summons for questioning, investigators must not only call, but also send a summons. If it doesn't exist, it could be scammers. They can also send SMS messages to citizens' phones indicating the exact address of the police department.

The agency concluded that the call for questioning by phone was not official.
