- In Krasnoyarsk, police officers dissuaded a woman from transferring a large sum to fraudsters
Krasnoyarsk police officers dissuaded a pensioner from transferring 185 thousand rubles to fraudsters. This was announced on August 17 in the press service of the Main Directorate (GU) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for the region.
"The police contacted a woman who had already arrived at the bank branch in order to transfer her savings to a 'secure account' at the direction of the scammers," the department's Telegram channel says.
According to the pensioner, she acted according to instructions, and has already transferred more than 400 thousand rubles to fraudsters, intending to "save" another 185.
The police officers were persistent: they took the woman to the department and contacted her son, asking him to come.
It took considerable time and effort to convince the pensioner that she had become a victim of fraud, the Interior Ministry of Russia in the region noted. A criminal case was opened by police officers.
On August 16, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Krasnoyarsk Territory reported that two fraudsters had defrauded a pensioner of 1 million rubles. The agency clarified that the scammers convinced her to give all the money for a "conspiracy" against leg pain.
