US President Donald Trump has expressed his intention to organize a trilateral meeting with Russia, the United States and Ukraine as early as August 22. This was reported on August 16 by the Axios news portal, citing sources.

"He also informed European leaders <...> that he wants to organize a trilateral summit with Putin and Zelensky as early as next Friday," the article says.

It is specified that Trump shared his intention with Europe and Ukraine during a telephone conversation after the meeting in Alaska.

The portal also reported that Trump plans to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday, August 18, in Washington.

On August 16, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on Trump's decision to provide "security guarantees" for Ukraine. It was clarified that the leaders of the European Union (EU) welcomed the words of the US president.

Earlier on August 16, Zelensky, in a telephone conversation with Trump, once again asked the United States and European countries to provide security guarantees for Kiev.
