An earthquake of magnitude 5.3 occurred in the Kamchatka Territory on August 16. This is evidenced by data from the Kamchatka branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS).
The earthquake occurred 469 km from the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, as indicated in the Telegram channel. Its epicenter was located at a depth of 28.6 km.
Over the past 24 hours, 50 aftershocks of magnitude up to 6.5 have been recorded in Kamchatka, the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Kamchatka Territory reported earlier that day.
Earlier, on August 15, it was reported about a recorded 6.5 magnitude aftershock in Kamchatka, 97 km from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. It was clarified that the seismic event occurred at a depth of 48 km.
